About The Job:

|
Your role will be focusing on research, teaching and external engagement in digital media design and creative technologies, within the Faculty of Digital Media Design. This will include the delivery of an innovative, high-quality educational programme that meets the needs of undergraduate students, industry and professional groups. |
|

Candidate must possess expertise in at least one of the following areas: |
|
i. Digital Design (art direction and visual design) |
|
ii. Web and Mobile Design (UI & UX) |
|
iii. Creative Technologies (Eg. AR/VR, interactive design and related technologies) |
|
Essentially a broader cross-disciplinary vision is desirable. |
|

Key Attributes:
|
• |
Under-graduate qualification in a relevant area (Bachelor Degree) / Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area (Master Degree) |
• |
Possess minimum 3 years of relevant and up-to-date knowledge in appropriate field (as stated above) |
• |
Familiarity with current industry standards, practices and technologies for project design, development and delivery. |
• |
Competent at least one of the following: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & XD, Unity 3D, HTML5, CSS3 & Bootstrap. |
• |
Experience or ability to operate in a dynamic and engaging practical-based learning environment, such as a design-studio or media lab. |
• |
Ability to undertake project and research. |
• |
Possess good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. |
• |
Creative in the development of teaching resources and assessment devices. |
• |
Clearly articulated educational philosophy. |
• |
Strong organisation and coordination skills. |
• |
Ability to work well within a team. |

Key Accountabilities:
|
|
1. Research |
• |
Plan and undertake research and/or professional practice in Digital Media Design and/or related disciplines. |
• |
Access and contribute to research of learning and teaching in Digital Media Design and/or related disciplines. |
• |
Contribute to the research and reputation of the School at a faculty, institutional, national and/or international level. |
• |
Engage with relevant external individuals or groups to maintain professional currency, inform our thinking and create opportunities in relation to research and professional practices. |

(additional tasks for Senior Lecturer): |
• |
Develop skills to lead, manage and contribute to projects at School and Faculty level. |
• |
Contribute to larger projects and collaborate to create new insight and opportunities |
|
2. Teaching |
• |
Develop, deliver and implement programmes and curricula using a range of interactive teaching strategies appropriate to the design of specific subjects. |
• |
Ensure new and existing subjects of learning are designed, enhanced, implemented, and evaluated in accordance with agreed School and Faculty standards and plans. |
• |
Identify and incorporate current industry, disciplinary and professional trends into curriculum reviews, student learning and assessment. |
• |
Actively contribute to activities associated with the academic development of the School and the Faculty. |
• |
Plan, teach assigned subjects or classes, assess the achievement of learning outcomes, evaluate teaching and report on its effectiveness. |
• |
Engage in professional learning to support ongoing development of teaching practice, including in the areas of pedagogy, student learning, assessment, curriculum and/or other aspects of higher education. |
|
(additional tasks for Senior Lecturer): |
• |
Undertake full academic responsibilities for the coordination and related administration of taught subjects, including where relevant the co-ordination of related subjects and teaching teams. |
• |
Support colleagues, including teaching assistants through guidance, mentoring, or relevant professional development to carry out their teaching duties to an appropriate standard. |
• |
Lead curriculum change and development. |

3. Academic Administration and Service |
• |
Contribute to the implementation of TOA’s strategic direction. |
• |
Take opportunities to develop competencies and professional expertise, including as specifically directed, if necessary. |
• |
Build professional and academic networks. |
• |
Seek to enhance the student experience through supporting student recruitment and other activities. |
• |
Ensure that any consultation or education/training activities that may be undertaken are done so in accordance with TOA guidelines and best practice. |

4. External Stakeholder Relationships |

Develop collaborative linkages with professions, industry and external stakeholders. |
• |
Create opportunities for students, TOA staff and industry partners to work on mutually productive projects. |
